YouTube’s KalsolarUK

with 5 comments

I recently discovered KalsolarUK whilst surfing the YouTube site. And what an unexpected and pleasant surprise it was. His modus operandi is simple – he takes stories of the Old Testament and subjects them to his own brand of literal translation, showing how ridiculous and utterly unbelievable they are and how completely immoral God often is. His “Pythonesque” humour is compulsive viewing and I can’t help but laugh out loud at some of the things he comes out with. Plus, he gets extra credit from me because he’s from my part of the world – the Midlands. So I guess that’s why I get and can appreciate his wry wit. I really couldn’t subscribe to his channel quickly enough. It’s entertaining and original. But if you’re a sensitive soul who despises profanity as a means of expression then you should give his videos a wide berth. If not, then here’s a taster (and be sure to check out his channel if you find that you like them):

Tickling an atheist’s funnybone

leave a comment »

I’ve long been of the opinion that comedy is inherent in Christianity, and nowhere is this more apparent than in the arguments espoused by Christians. I guess you could say that where there are 2 or more Christians gathered together, there’s comedy right smack bang in their midst. In fact, I just thought of a joke: How do you tell when a Christian is being funny? His lips will move. I crack myself up.

In order to understand what I’m getting at, watch this couple of bozo’s (whom my wife affectionately calls Mumbo and Jumbo) who believe that a banana is “the atheist’s nightmare” because it proves that Almighty God is responsible for all of creation, and I challenge anyone not to laugh at their insights – and yes, I am being deliberately facetious:

Crazy, eh? If you didn’t laugh or, at the very least, smile while viewing that, then you must no doubt be a dyed-in-the-wool Christian. If so, I suppose that you’re now thinking to yourself: “I didn’t see or hear anything that was remotely funny. What’s this raving loony atheist going on about?” Not to worry. Comfort yourself with the knowledge that Jesus wouldn’t have found it humorous either.

It was an article called Atheism: An Irrational Worldview that got me thinking all about how funny Christians are. Dr. Jason Lisle’s contention is:

A materialistic atheist believes that nature is all that there is. He believes that there is no transcendent God who oversees and maintains creation. Many atheists believe that their worldview is rational—and scientific. However, by embracing materialism, the atheist has destroyed the possibility of knowledge, as well as science and technology. In other words, if atheism were true, it would be impossible to prove anything!

And here’s why:

  1. Reasoning involves using the laws of logic.
  2. Laws of logic are God’s standard for thinking.
  3. The atheist’s view cannot be rational because he uses things (laws of logic) that cannot exist according to his profession.

Now I don’t know about anybody else, but I find that hilarious, more so because Lisle is so serious about what he’s saying. And seriousness really adds to the humour. A Christian must be serious to be funny.
